Blue Crane Coffee Company adds a New Dynamic to the Cape’s Coffee Scene
Locally known as Stellenbosch’s newest ‘Bird in Town’, the Blue Crane Coffee Company (BCCC), makes a trip to the Winelands well worth coffee lovers’ time. The roastery and experimental coffee laboratory, also the first Stellenbosch coffee outlet to double up as a local art showroom, proudly roasts its versatile blends at its Dorp Street headquarters. Forming part of the original Oude De Pastorie in the centre of town, the recently established BCCC (2016) is passionate about preserving the building’s longstanding narrative while adding a modern and innovative twist to its heritage.
Founded by Michael Jones, who relocated from Scotland in 2012 to take on his dream to help develop in the industry and share his love for great coffee, BCCCs philosopy closely associates a story of determination and continued dedication. With support from co-owners, Henniel Smit and Wilhelm Fismer, the coffee company continues to remain true to producing flavourful coffee that goes down well whichever you like to drink it. Featuring 100% Arabica City roast beans from central America’s El Salvador, BCCCs signature roast provides a smooth and rich mouth feel with a balanced, sweet-bitter and lingering aftertaste.
While Stellenbosch is home to BCCCs first and current roastery / coffee lab, the company has extended its offerings to online customers across South Africa and abroad, to soon include locally hand-painted ceramic crockery.
If you’re looking to boost your end-of-year stretch with an added coffee kick and out-of-office work space, BCCCs Work Room, a refurbished private office separate from the outlet’s public lounge, gives individuals a productive workspace and meeting area to consult with others around a boardroom table. An hourly, customised package from approximately R400 includes refreshments and coffee on arrival. Your session comprises unlimited WiFi and AV setup. Special breakfast and lunch packages are available.
BCCC trades from Monday to Fridays (7h00 to 17h00) and on Saturdays (8h00 to 12h30).
